  1.         NOTE! - Make sure to back up your database prior to installing

  5.                            FASTMAIL 2.31 INSTALLATION
  6.  
  7.         To install "FASTMAIL" make two directories for the program.
  8.         The first is for the Program(i.e. "MKDIR C:\FASTMAIL).
  9.         The second is for Program Data(i.e. "MKDIR C:\FASTMAIL\DATA").
  10.  
  11.         Copy all programs from the disk to the new directory  "C:\FASTMAIL"
  12.         i.e. "COPY A:*.* C:\FASTMAIL".
  13.  
  14.         To start the "FASTMAIL" program change the directory to "FASTMAIL".
  15.  
  16.         Enter "MAIL" to start the "FASTMAIL".
  17.  
  18.                         UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS for 2.23 or earlier
  19.  
  20.         Follow all the installation instructions above. Then start the 
  21.         FASTMAIL program. 
  22.  
  23.         Place the backed up database in drive A:
  24.  
  25.         Select load Name file from the main menu.
  26.  
  27.         Enter "A:\" for the drive and directory.
  28.  
  29.         Enter "NAME" for the file name.
  30.  
  31.         Enter "N" for merge database.
  32.  
  33.         Verify the information is correct.
  34.  
  35.         Press "Y" to load the old database.
  36.  
  37.         Note - the program indicates "Updating Old Database. Please Wait..."
  38.  
  39.         Your old database has been updated.

  41.         Now save the database to the harddisk by selecting Save Name file
  42.         from the MAIN MENU.
  43.  
  44.         Enter "C:\FASTMAIL\DATA" for Drive\Directory
  45.  
  46.         Enter "NAME" for database file
  47.  
  48.         Then follow the directions to save the database file.
  49.  
  50.         Be sure to set up the interest fields as they were before from
  51.         the configuration menu.

  215. FASTMAIL is a Mailing list program. The program is menu driven and easy to 
  216. use. The user most likely will never use the manual except for installation.
  217.  
  218. The program is written in DBASE III then converted to compile under 
  219. Clipper 5.01.
  220.  
  221. The program features are listed below:
  222.  
  223. 1.      Add names to Mailing list
  224.         Before a name is added duplicates are checked and displayed on
  225.         the screen for the user. The user can then decide to add or edit
  226.         the entry.
  227.  
  228. 2.      Display or Edit record. If name is not found the user can add
  229.         name directly. Full screen editing is allowed.
  230.  
  231. 3.      Delete any record as required.
  232.  
  233. 4.      Print mailing list names on several formats.
  234.  
  235. 5.      Special configuration file for a default city, state and zip.
  236.  
  237. 6.      The user can select any of five special interest categories. 
  238.         This allows the user to print labels based on these categories.
  239.         Program will update user screen without user intervention.
  240.  
  241. 7.      Separate Duplication search feature for mailing list maintainance.
  242.  
  243. 8.      Print mailing labels based on the different interest categories, 
  244.         Search Criteria, Date and Since Last or all names.
  245.  
  246. 9.      Each list can be printed in 10 different orders.

  248. 10.     Statistics are kept and displayed to the user on how many names
  249.         for each interest category and total mailing list name count.

  251. 11.     The database can saved to and restored from any drive/directory.

  253. 12.     Database size is dependent on disk space.

  255. 13.     Approximate records stored on a 1.2 MB floppy is 4,200.
